Summer heat in Hesse: changing weather brings the risk of thunderstorms!

What’s new in the beautiful cathedral city of Cologne? While anticipation for the weekend grows, pleasant summer air gives Cologne residents the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful weather once again. A weak influence of high pressure is currently determining the weather, which is ensuring friendly and warm weather. But the weather forecasts show that this summer magic will not last. Meteozentrale reports that showers and thunderstorms are coming on Saturday.

Friday is still quite bright and warm. In the southwest half, Cologne residents are treated to a sunny day with temperatures of up to 29 degrees. In the northeast, however, there are more clouds and slightly lower temperatures, with 24 degrees in cities like Frankenberg and Korbach and a pleasant 26 degrees in Fulda and Marburg. So we take a look at the skies and what the weekend will bring.

A changeable weather weekend

Be prepared: Saturday will start with a quiet night with partly clear skies over the city. The temperatures fall to a pleasant value between 16 and 11 degrees. But in the afternoon, showers or thunderstorms are expected as clouds increase, while maximum temperatures rise to 27 to 32 degrees. An ideal morning for anyone who enjoys outdoor activities!

However, Sunday could require some changes. After a restless night with showers and possible thunderstorms, temperatures will drop to 18 to 15 degrees. Heavy regional showers are expected, especially in the afternoon and evening, while temperatures will be between 24 and 30 degrees. For many this means: Flexibility is required, but summer also has its cheerful sides.

Health in focus

During such extreme weather changes, older citizens and people with cardiovascular problems should be particularly careful. As the Herzstiftung explains, high temperatures can put a great strain on the already weakened organism. Heat increases the risk of sudden drops in blood pressure and circulatory collapse. An opportunity to think about prevention: Avoid the heat and postpone sporting activities to the cooler hours of the day is the motto.

It is also known that blood pressure often increases at elevated temperatures. The body is under additional stress, which may require medication adjustments. Good advice – talking to your doctor can help here.

Weather Sensitivity and Spherics

But it's not just heat that can cause problems. The connection between weather changes and health problems is diverse. According to Gesundheit.de, many people who are sensitive to the weather experience physical complaints even before a change in the weather. Spherics – electromagnetic pulses that can cause free damage – play a role in this. Whether these impulses really have far-reaching effects on the human body is still an exciting topic in science.

The mix of sun, thunderstorms and health challenges represents an interesting but also challenging situation for the people of Cologne. Enjoy the pleasant weather, but remember to take good care of yourself!
