A serious traffic accident rocked federal highway 26 in Babenhausen on Saturday afternoon, July 5, 2025. At around 2:30 p.m., a 67-year-old driver from Königsbrunn collided with a VW while waiting at a red light. The force of the impact pushed it onto a Mini and a Seat, which were also standing at the traffic lights. A total of four vehicles were involved in the accident: an Audi, a VW, a Mini and a Seat. The passenger in the Audi, a 43-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries and had to be freed from the vehicle by the Babenhausen fire department. She was then flown to a clinic in a rescue helicopter, while the drivers of the other cars involved, aged 24, 24 and 26, escaped with minor injuries. The driver of the Audi remained uninjured. The material damage amounts to around 45,000 euros, including a house wall that the Audi crashed into. The B26 was completely closed for around 1.5 hours to carry out the clean-up work.
