IHK Fulda honors the top trainees 2025: A national best shines!

On October 29, 2025, a special honor took place in Fulda: The Fulda Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) chose the most successful trainees of the year. Of the 737 young people who took their final exams before an IHK examination board, 680 successfully passed the exam. A highlight of the event was the award given to Johannes Wahl, who emerged as the best in the country in the profession of electronics engineer for building and infrastructure systems. He completed his training at Gottschild Automation Technology.

Denise Otto, head of the vocational training department at the IHK Fulda, led through the varied program, which not only included honoring the national winners, but also offered insight into the lively stories and fun facts of the committed trainees. In total, the best graduates in 23 different training occupations were honored. Particularly noteworthy are the nine state winners from Hesse, including Sophia Schuster (architectural draftsman), Luna Helmer (bookseller) and Fabian Schönhauer (railroad train traffic control).

Importance of dual training

The IHK President Dr. Christian Gebhardt took the opportunity to emphasize the importance of dual training for the economy and society. This form of practice-oriented training is not only crucial for the personal development of young people, but also for securing the region's need for skilled workers.

In addition to honoring the top trainees, the best training companies and vocational schools were also recognized. This recognition follows the honoring of 48 outstanding graduates with the “IHKoment” last year, which underlines the consistent quality of training in the region.

Support and advice from the IHK

The IHK plays a key role in the training of young people in Germany. Around 500 training consultants are available to support companies, trainees and those seeking apprenticeships with in-company training. They do valuable work by checking the suitability of companies for vocational training, acquiring new training positions and helping young people find suitable apprenticeships. They are always the contact person for entrepreneurs, trainees and their legal guardians. This support is particularly important to ensure the quality of training and to help young talents gain a foothold in their professions.

As part of this support, the IHK also offers platforms such as the IHK apprenticeship exchange, where young people can research suitable training positions. The consultants are on site and visit both companies and schools to provide information about the various careers and training opportunities. This is a further step towards keeping dual training highly popular.

The recognition of talented trainees and the committed work of the IHK show that the future looks promising for the next generation in Rheinhessen and that dual training remains an important part of German educational culture. The IHK offers further information about training on its website: IHK training advice.

In summary, it can be said that the event in Fulda was not only a celebration of success, but also a sign of how important the promotion of young specialists is for the future of our society. And as the saying goes: “There’s something going on!”
