Creative energy: traveling exhibition Youth paints” inspires in Fulda!

What's new in Fulda? On this hot summer evening on July 22, 2025, the traveling exhibition “Youth Paints” will open, presenting the creative highlights of the competition of the same name. The event is organized by the Hessian Ministry of Science and Research, as well as Art and Culture, together with the Fulda Children's Academy. It's a feast for the eyes and a great example of youth living out their creative potential.

Under the motto “Energy”, the young artists between the ages of 6 and 16 dealt with a highly topical topic. The competition aims to reflect the meaning of energy in all its facets - be it as strength, power or possibility. Above all, the kids should show what they use energy for, be it at school, in hobbies or in their free time. Creative ideas were required, as it were, such as dealing with moments when energy was not available.

Special honor and award ceremony

The award ceremony took place on July 1st in the Hessian state parliament in Wiesbaden. The 68 winning images were awarded in a festive ceremony by high-ranking personalities, including Art and Culture Minister Timon Gremmels and State Parliament President Astrid Wallmann. These awards are not only a nice incentive for the children, but also deserved recognition for their creativity and hard work.

This traveling exhibition, which can be seen until August 31st in the KARL concept department store at Rabanusstrasse 19 in Fulda, offers the small artists a platform to present their work to the public. It's worth stopping by and admiring the works, which show very different perspectives on the competition topic. They really showed a good knack for selecting the images.

Competition for the future

The “Youth Paints” project is more than just a competition. It is part of the 2025 Science Year entitled “Future Energy” and invites participants to develop thoughts about a sustainable energy future and the influence of energy on our society. Whether drawing, painting or doing crafts - the children have the opportunity to creatively engage with a topic that is of enormous importance for the future.

For everyone who is interested in taking part: The next opportunity for young talent is coming next year. Works can be submitted until March 14, 2025. The judging takes place in three age groups, with five individual winners being chosen in each group - and there may even be special prizes for school classes! If you want, you can address your submissions directly to the Fulda Children's Academy, which is also a great opportunity to express your talent.

As you can see, there is a lot of energy in this competition. Who knows, maybe the next Picasso or Frida Kahlo will discover their passion for art, inspired by this great project! Anyone interested is cordially invited to visit the exhibition and marvel at the imaginative works of the young artists. Definitely worth a visit.
