Fulda is in the starting blocks for the 63rd Hessentag, which will take place from June 12th to 21st, 2026. Preparations for this big event, which has been a tradition in Hesse since 1961, are in full swing. A highlight will be the concert by Peter Maffay, who will perform on the Cathedral Square on Sunday, June 21, 2026 at 8 p.m. The square will be converted into a concert arena specifically for this purpose and can accommodate up to 11,000 visitors.

How op-online.de reports, the tickets will be available in presale via the Fuldaer Zeitung from Tuesday, July 8, 2025, while general presale starts on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 11 a.m. The tickets can be purchased conveniently online in the Fuldaer Zeitung ticket shops, at Provinztour and other advance booking offices. There are special places for wheelchair users and tickets for people with 100% severe disabilities should be requested directly from the provincial tour organizer.

Peter Maffay: A musical highlight

This will not be the first time that Peter Maffay has appeared in front of a Hessentag audience. In 2023, he thrilled around 7,500 spectators in Pfungstadt with a rousing concert that lasted 2 hours and 40 minutes and offered a mix of new and old hits. Among the songs played were classics such as “Freedom, I mean” and “Over 7 Bridges”. Maffay's artistic range is also reflected in his social and political commitment as well as his work around the fairytale character "Tabaluga", which he brought to life in the 1980s. The Vinylist highlights that Maffay is an artist with over 50 million records sold and numerous number 1 albums.

Another special feature of the Hessentag in Fulda will be the event itself, which will cover over 92,000 square meters of event space and offer almost 10,000 additional parking spaces. The city of Fulda also receives around two million euros from the state to hold the Hessentag.
