Traditional costume festival in Schlitz: A symbol of friendship and peace!
The Schlitzerland traditional costume festival sent a strong signal for friendship and peace in the picturesque castle town of Schlitz. Last weekend, visitors from near and far flocked to the city and experienced a festival of joy and community in optimal weather. The first chairman of the Schlitzerland local and traditional costume festival association called the festival over at 12:42 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
The event, which takes place every two years on the second weekend in July, extends over four days and combines folklore with modern musical enjoyment. This year the festival welcomed numerous international visitors who were able to enjoy a colorful program of traditional costumes and jeans. The celebrations were accompanied by music from the band Soundaholics from Fulda, while the Plön Music Train provided special musical highlights.
Emotional highlights and cultural performances
Another emotional highlight was the singing of the homeland song, which was performed by many participants, including young Americans. A trumpeter caused goosebumps when he played the title “The Rose” from the balcony, while the choir from the traditional costume and folk dance circle intoned the Schlitzer song.
Sunday was particularly colorful as the big parade moved through the old town. With almost 120 horses, a flock of sheep and around 90 groups, the train offered an impressive view of the history and customs of Schlitzerland. Music bands and local folklore groups presented their skills, and after the parade there were further performances in the market square and in the music school courtyard.
Future and tradition
The Schlitzerländer Trachtenfest looks back on a long tradition and will be celebrated again in 2026. The next festival will even celebrate the 100th anniversary of the traditional costume festival, which is expected with great anticipation. Visitors can not only admire the traditional costumes, but also enjoy the many delicacies and the warm hospitality that are typical of such folk festivals.
A big finale to the festival was the annual fireworks display, which was fired from the 36 meter high keep in the Burgenring and bathed the night in a colorful sea of light. For the local population, Monday was a day of celebration with morning drinks and various performances.
The Schlitzerland Traditional Costume Festival has established itself as a community masterpiece that brings people from different regions together and promotes peaceful, harmonious encounters. At a time when friendship and understanding are so important, this celebration sends a strong signal to the world that we can celebrate together, regardless of background and tradition.
