FC Gießen gives up points against Erlensee after a 2-0 lead!

On September 8th, 2025 there was an exciting game in Hessian football between FC Gießen and 1. FC Erlensee. Despite a clear lead at half-time, Gießen had to be satisfied with a 2-2 draw in the end. Did we call it a stroke of fate or just bad luck? FC Gießen took the lead early through Landon Williams in the 11th minute and went one better with a goal from Fnan Ghebremeskel in the 24th minute.

But the second half showed a different picture: Erlensee came out of the locker room with fresh energy and scored the 1-2 goal just five minutes after the restart. There was a shock for Giessen in stoppage time when Erlensee equalized with a header from a corner. Coach Etienn Römer was still satisfied with his team's performance and emphasized that the team had analyzed the opponent well. FC Gießen's line-up included Wrage in goal, supported by Hühn, Gobbo, Herschel, Vogel, Ghebremeskel, Milinovic, Breuer, Keil, Williams and Soudani.

In the parallel game, TSG Wieseck showed an impressive turnaround. Against Germania Weilbach the team was down 2-0 at halftime, but a strong second half ensured a 3-2 win. The current table shows that TSG Wieseck is now sole second in the table after KSV Hessen Kassel Kickers Offenbach defeated.
