Giessen 46ers triumph in basketball thriller against Bochum!

The basketball fans experienced a thrilling duel on the last matchday in the 2nd Basketball Bundesliga ProA, when Pour 46ers defeated VfL Bochum 76:74. This narrow victory marks the third success of the current season after six games - a reason for joy for the around 2,250 spectators who frenetically cheered on their team.

The Giessen team started strong and quickly pulled away with a score of 7:2. But Bochum remained stubborn and managed to take the lead 74:69 in the 38th minute. In this crucial phase, Kyle Castlin took command and not only scored 26 points, but also grabbed 8 rebounds and drew 7 fouls. His crowning achievement was the decisive basket that put the Gießen 46ers on the road to victory. To the thunderous applause of the fans, Robin Benzing also made people sit up and take notice and converted an important three-pointer to make it 74:74.

Players in the spotlight

In addition to Castlin, Simon Krajcovics also showed a remarkable performance with 9 points, 6 assists and 6 rebounds. Coach Branislav Ignjatovic still had praise for his players Aiden Warnholtz and Luis König Figge, who contributed heavily to the game. On the other hand, the new additions Domagoj Vukovic and Daniel Norl still had difficulties integrating into the team. Ignjatovic also pointed out personnel problems, especially in the backup guard area for Krajcovics. This could encourage Gießen to think about additional commitments.

Outlook for upcoming challenges

The next challenges for the Gießen 46ers are already coming up: on Friday they play away against Tübingen and on Sunday they return to the home game against Leverkusen. With regard to the playoffs, which take place on May 5th start, they are well positioned.
