The atmosphere makes for quite uncomfortable conditions, which is not helped by occasional showers on Tuesday night. The temperatures drop to a cool 7 to 9 degrees, and in the higher mountains it can even go down to 3 degrees.

The German Weather Service reports a dominant influence of cool sea air from the north, combined with low pressures from the south, which cause changeable weather. Constant rain is coming, especially for southern Hesse, where 50 to 80 liters per square meter can be expected by Thursday morning. In the central and eastern regions of Hesse you should be prepared for 25 to 40 liters, with potential storage areas that can even bring up to 50 liters.

The region around the Odenwald could be particularly affected by flooding. The soil is already saturated, making it difficult for rainwater to drain away. Basements and underpasses may be full thanks to the upcoming rainfall. The weather situation is particularly problematic at the moment.

Wind and weather conditions

The wind conditions are also not without problems. North of the Main it will be windy, with gusts between 50 and 60 km/h. In the ridge areas of the low mountain ranges, stormy or stormy gusts of up to 80 km/h are possible.

A cloudy scene is expected for Tuesday with maximum temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees, while the mountainous region will remain at around 10 degrees. The weather will not improve much in the following days. Wednesday will bring widespread and sometimes heavy rain, which will raise temperatures to a maximum of 15 degrees. The forecast for the rest of the week points to continued changeable weather, with intermittent periods without precipitation and moderate temperatures around 12 to 15 degrees.
