Hessentag 2025: celebrations, mini golf and party fun in Bad Vilbel!
The Hessentag in Bad Vilbel, the largest state festival in Hesse, reaches its climax this weekend. Numerous visitors are flocking to the city and the weather is at its best - albeit with a tricky heat regime. The Hessischer Rundfunk (hr) is on site here with a colorful program that has everything in store for festival visitors young and old.
From June 13th to 22nd, 2025, the hr-Treff is a centerpiece of the festival. Every day from 10:00 a.m. to midnight, guests have the opportunity to get in touch with presenters from radio and television and enjoy the special atmosphere. The opportunity to live out your inner golf king at “Uncle Otto's Mini Golf” attracts many people, while the photo box in the Airstreamer bus creates beautiful memories. Particular highlights are the “Hello Hessentag” stage shows between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., where prominent guests and animations await on the audience rooftops.
A celebration for young and old
The evenings at the hr-Treff are all about partying: from 8 p.m., DJs from the hr radio program play and create a lively atmosphere. Your physical well-being is also taken care of – a food truck and a bar offer street food and cool drinks. Another highlight of Hessentag is the big final concert, which will be celebrated on Sunday with Moses Pelham and special guest Vega.
The city of Bad Vilbel is expecting tens of thousands of guests and has set itself the goal of breaking the 750,000 visitor mark. By halftime on Tuesday, the organizers had already counted around 450,000 visitors – an impressive result! The parade on Sunday, which will be broadcast live on hr television from 2 p.m., promises to be another highlight. Over 100 contributions are expected and the traditional procession begins at 1:00 p.m. The weather is proving to be a warm challenge, with temperatures over 30 degrees and a heat warning issued for Sunday.
Tips for visiting
The police recommend that festival visitors avoid the city center of Bad Vilbel from 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, as it will be closed to car traffic. Travelers should use public transport; the S-Bahn lines S6 and RB34 as well as reinforced bus lines will bring guests safely to the festival. The police have had a positive assessment of the festival so far: it was peaceful with only a few reports and the sanitary services are well prepared. Due to the heat, many visitors seek shade and use free sunscreen dispensers and umbrellas that are scattered around the site.
Overall, Hessentag is a big celebration for the whole family. Whether with mini golf, good conversations or dancing under the stars – the heart of the state festival beats here in the hr-Treff. The hr also dines with a variety of program items until the last minute and once again focuses on a successful mix of fun, entertainment and community.
