CDU application for fire brigade: Gender dispute in Friedrichsdorf escalates!
In Friedrichsdorf, in the Hochtaunus district in Hesse, a proposal from the CDU to change the fire brigade statutes is causing heated discussions. The application aims to replace the male form in the statutes with a uniform gender designation. This is intended to provide more clarity, as Merkur reports.
The city council decided with 20 votes in favor of the application, 12 votes against and one abstention. However, Mayor Lars Keitel from the Green Party has decided to retain the female forms in the statutes. He argues that this is a step towards promoting equality and sees criticism of this decision as part of a larger social problem. City fire inspector Pino Raguso supports this regulation and shows understanding for the new approach.
Uniqueness in Germany?
The fire department in Friedrichsdorf is made up of four subdivisions: Friedrichsdorf-Mitte, Seulberg, Köppern and Burgholzhausen. In its proposal, the CDU does not call for the complete abolition of gender language, but rather suggests using the generic feminine. In the discussion about gender-neutral language use, the Federal Government advises against using gender forms such as the asterisk or the colon.
With this regulation, Friedrichsdorf could become a unique case in Germany that demonstrates the interaction between traditional fire brigade structure and modern gender issues. As in many other cities, a rethinking of society seems to be taking place here.
The debate surrounding gender equality and gender language continues to be a hot topic. Ultimately, it is important that all voices are heard and the needs of all citizens are taken into account.
