Again traffic disruptions in Baunatal: construction work starts Monday!
In Baunatal, road users will soon be faced with some changes. From Monday, November 10th, the second phase of road work on the A49 exit Baunatal-Mitte will begin HNA reported. Following the successful completion of the first construction phase, the work, which is scheduled to last five days, will have a significant impact on traffic conditions in the region.
The most important traffic changes come into force: Access to the A49 to Kassel is temporarily only possible from the direction of Wolfsburger Straße. Traffic from the Baunatal city center will be redirected via the Wolfsburger Straße/Zwickauer Straße roundabout. In addition, those turning left from the A49 from the south who want to drive to the Wolfsburger Straße industrial estate must choose another route, as this will be closed until the end of the construction work.
Detours and accessibility
An exit via the state road to the Kirchbauna/Hunsrückstraße junction ensures a smooth diversion. Anyone coming from the Wolfsburger Straße commercial area can only turn right onto the A49 towards Kassel. It is not possible to continue driving to the town center of Baunatal and the entrance to the A49 to the south. Instead, vehicles will be redirected via the A49 to the Baunatal-Nord junction, where it is possible to change to the southbound side of the road.
In order to further relieve traffic, the state of Hesse is investing 50,000 euros in renovating the state road near Kirchbauna. This is just part of a larger renovation project that has been carried out in recent months and in which Hessen Mobil is working closely with the Kassel Regionalbahn (RBK).
Current construction sites and public transport
Construction work is currently being carried out on Ulmenstrasse between Baunatal and Oberzwehren. Loud Baunatal.de Tram tracks will receive new asphalt surfaces and the track system will be renewed between Mattenberg and Baunatal. This means some restrictions on public transport. The construction sites will lead to a complete closure of the Ulmenstrasse traffic junction and will probably also lead to increased traffic volumes in the area of the Baunatal junction of the A49.
There is also support from the state of Hesse for future mobility and quality of life in the region: The Mobility Promotion Act provides at least 100 million euros annually for municipal road construction and local public transport. The aim of these measures is not only to improve the transport infrastructure, but also to reduce climate and environmental pollution.
The Baunatal region is facing exciting but also challenging times as it prepares for the upcoming construction work. Road users are asked to observe the diversions and adjust their travel times accordingly.
