Kassel Huskies: Woodcroft demands a perfect start to training!

The Kassel Huskies are in the middle of preparations for the new ice hockey season, and coach Todd Woodcroft is bringing a breath of fresh air into the team's ranks. The coach is currently in North America visiting his brother in Ontario. After this stay he will travel back to Minnesota, only to come back to Germany at the end of July when preparations for the new season begin in full swing. The Huskies want to leave no stone unturned this season to achieve promotion to the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) after the goal was not achieved in April, according to Hessenschau.

Woodcroft had already had intensive contact with his players to hold exit meetings after the disappointing semi-final exit. The feedback was collected anonymously and forwarded to sports director Daniel Kreutzer. This shows that he is not only concerned about the next games, but also about the long-term development of the team. “I expect the players to be in shape - there are no more excuses,” emphasizes Woodcroft, who has watched all NHL playoff games to analyze specific plays and give his players valuable insight, reports HNA.

New coach, fresh goals

With Todd Woodcroft in the dugout, a new era begins for the Huskies. Next stop: A summer training camp in Zell am See, Austria. There the players should not only strengthen their fitness, but also their team spirit. The first test match was already promising: a 7:3 win against HC Innsbruck gives reason for hope and praise from Woodcroft. Goalkeeper Philipp Maurer in particular stood out in this game, which indicates the team's good form.

Woodcroft also plans to show a lot of clips from the NHL playoffs during training camp to prepare the players for the professional level of play. “Mistakes are part of the process and we can correct them,” he says optimistically as he focuses on the challenges ahead.

The training plan is set

Planning for August and September has already been completed. The next preparatory game is on August 11th, followed by further test games against teams like Steinbach Black Wings Linz and Rytíři Kladno. The training will not only focus on ice training, but will also include special exercises to improve endurance, speed and strength, as Owayo shows.

The team has a lot ahead of them. Woodcroft has great confidence in his new additions, including Mitch Hoelscher and Tyler Benson, who shows great promise despite injuries. Combined with a strong defense and the desired shooting misfortune from last season, the Huskies appear ready to take the ice and show their competitiveness.
