Five female free judges master AbiBac – a European success!
One reason to be happy about the Copernicus School in Freigericht: five committed high school graduates recently successfully completed the AbiBac program. This special form of qualification combines the German Abitur with the French Baccalauréat and opens up numerous opportunities for graduates. The successful students – Hannah Ruth Ludwigs, Jolina Fuchs, Liv Hackbarth, Jana Guimerà Nieto and Jana Moldan – have taken part in this intercultural program in recent years, which has been offered at the school since the 2006/07 school year.
The AbiBac program not only promotes multilingualism, but also intercultural competence and encourages students to develop European thinking. For the first time this year, the graduates had the honor of welcoming Monsieur Philippe Meyer as the official French examiner during their oral examinations. At their side were German examiners such as school principal Ulrich Mayer, department head Dr. Boris Hogenmüller and AbiBac coordinator Thorsten Weitzel. It was an important moment that symbolizes the close cooperation between Germany and France.
Extensive preparation and requirements
The AbiBac program places high demands on the students. In addition to taking part in the advanced French course, they must complete bilingual specialist courses in history and politics and pass additional written and oral exams in French. Coordinator Thorsten Weitzel praised the commitment and enthusiasm of the students, who mastered the challenges with flying colors.
The Copernicus School attaches great importance to a comprehensive education that promotes thinking outside the box. In recent years, in addition to regular lessons, the students have also had the opportunity to deepen their French skills through exchange programs and joint projects with French partner schools. Such international experiences are invaluable for personal development and future academic careers.
Career opportunities and scholarships
With the successful completion of the AbiBac program, graduates have access to numerous study and career opportunities, both in Germany and France and at international universities. The offer ranges from studies to initial vocational training. For many, the question of financing is also important: scholarships can offer valuable support because, unlike Bafög, they do not have to be repaid. There are around 2,500 scholarship providers who offer a realistic chance of receiving funding - great opportunities for our graduates to realize their academic dreams.
The AbiBac program is not only offered at the Copernicus School, but at over 80 partner schools in Germany and France. It offers bilingual lessons that promote excellent French skills and improve intercultural skills. In addition, it facilitates access to other languages and enables a deeper understanding of both cultures within the EU.
The Copernicus School is pleased that its graduates were not only able to successfully complete high school, but also start their future with a valuable double degree. These successes are not only personal milestones, but also a sign of the successful educational work at the school.
