Offenbach breathes a sigh of relief: heat over, thunderstorm warning for the region!
The heat wave has currently subsided in Offenbach and the weather is now showing a more uncomfortable side. The German Weather Service (DWD) monitored the situation closely. The agency reports that a storm is causing great excitement in four southern Hesse districts. The level 2 out of 4 severe weather warning was in effect until 6 p.m. on August 15, a day that began with intense heat that morning.
The peak of the heat period now seems to have finally passed. The DWD initially warned of “extreme heat” on August 14, before downgrading the warnings to “severe heat stress” the following day. Around 36.5 degrees were measured in Schlüchtern-Herolz, followed by Bad Hersfeld with 36.3 degrees and Offenbach itself with 36.2 degrees. With these temperatures, Hesse has once again set a heat record.
The weather is changing
On August 15th the sun was still strong, but from the afternoon onwards the first strong thunderstorms were forecast, which could bring with them potential weather phenomena such as heavy rain, hail and squalls. The maximum temperatures at this point were between 31 and 35 degrees – a hot place for many. August 16th promised some improvement, it was clear to sunny with 27 to 31 degrees in southern Hesse and at least 23 to 27 degrees in northern Hesse, before today's Sunday, August 17th, continued sunny weather with 27 degrees in southern Hesse and 24 degrees in the north is expected.
However, forest lovers must be careful: the extreme drought has significantly increased the risk of forest fires. The Hessenforst is now reporting medium to high risk levels for forest fires. So far this season, around 100 forest fires have been registered in Hesse, affecting a total area of around 15,000 square meters.
The effects of heat
But what do the sweltering temperatures mean for people and their businesses? The extreme heat not only puts a strain on nature, but also on the construction industry. Correct time recording is of great importance for building contractors, especially now. So there are two main categories of time tracking software that contractors can use, as described on service titan.
There are the construction timesheet apps that are used manually for employee time tracking, as well as comprehensive construction management software that combines time tracking directly with project management tools. The latter provide real-time data and insights that are crucial for profitability management. The selection of software is large: from ServiceTitan, Procore to FieldPulse and many others. While the construction industry is suffering from the heat wave, entrepreneurs must react flexibly to changing weather conditions in their planning and execution.
Conclusion: As temperatures drop, the potential danger from storms and forest fires should not be underestimated. And it is important for both individuals and companies to be well informed and prepared.
