Serious accident near Mernes: driver trapped in the car and seriously injured!

A serious traffic accident occurred on Monday morning, June 23, 2025, in the Main-Kinzig district. The driver of the vehicle was seriously injured in the impact and was trapped in the car.

The fire and rescue services were alerted at 5:18 a.m. The emergency services on site, including the Mernes fire department with a fire department vehicle and several personnel transport vehicles, coordinated the technical rescue in close cooperation with the rescue service. The trapped person was successfully freed and after initial medical treatment, the injured person was flown to a clinic in the Christoph Gießen rescue helicopter.

Cooperation between the emergency services

A total of around 50 fire brigade personnel and several rescue service teams were deployed for this operation. The Salmünster fire department responded with a tank fire engine and a rescue vehicle, while the Bad Soden fire department provided support with another fire department vehicle and a command vehicle. The Marjoß fire department was also on site and helped with an emergency fire service vehicle and a personnel transport vehicle.

The country road was completely closed during the rescue work. The last fire brigade units left the scene shortly after 7 a.m. after all measures had been successfully completed. The close cooperation between the fire brigade and rescue service shows the outstanding commitment of the rescue workers in emergency situations.

Close cooperation between emergency services and the fire brigade therefore remains essential in order to be able to react quickly and efficiently to such incidents. The population should also stay informed and prepare for possible emergencies, because safety comes first.
