A lot is moving in Waechtersbach - but not at the pace you would like. In March 2019, the city council unanimously decided to take part in the “Fairtrade City” campaign. The resolution was based on a proposal from the SPD and was recommended by the Main and Finance Committee. “The conditions are almost there,” it was said optimistically at the time. But apparently nothing has come of this confidence.
As the Greens recently reported at a trade fair, the Fairtrade award forwachtersbach is still missing. According to their information, there are significant delays in implementing the decision. This is in direct contradiction to the clear political agreement of 2019. In a written request to Mayor Weiher submitted in May 2025, the Greens requested a statement on the causes of these delays - a request that remains unanswered to this day.
