Future check in the Main-Kinzig district: Young liberals demand changes!
Last weekend the Young Liberals of Hesse organized an exciting event in the Main-Kinzig district. On the market square in Hanau there was not only discussion, but also a little holiday atmosphere with an ice cream stand. The goal of this summer tour: Find a direct line to the people and shape the future of the district. There were numerous topics in the foreground that needed to be clarified.
A major issue was the condition of the school buildings. Many schools are in a dilapidated state, the equipment is outdated and the digital technology leaves a lot to be desired. The Young Liberals are calling for better learning conditions to enable students to succeed in a constantly changing world. Transport was also addressed: There is a desire for better timing, digital booking options and intelligent linking of means of transport. Another critical point was the tense budget situation, in which money flows into inefficient structures and key tasks remain unfinished. We want to change that – through lean, digital processes and setting new priorities.
New elections to the district board
Back to the most recent general meeting of the Young Liberals Main-Kinzig, which recently took place in the Neustädter Rathaus in Hanau. Here, district chairman Marc Schmidt reported on the successful work of the past year. Particularly noteworthy are regular meetings and activities that generated almost 1,000 euros for charitable purposes.
A new district executive was also elected at the meeting. Marc Schmidt was unanimously confirmed as district chairman. He receives support from Annika Rütter from Maintal as deputy district chairwoman with a cash function and Moritz Drescher from Steinau, who was entrusted with the program. Lars Petscha from Gelnhausen takes over the position of deputy district chairman for organization, while Samuel Kutger from Hanau takes care of press and public relations. All deputies were elected unanimously, and the assessors also come from a wide variety of places in the district: from Ben Blum (Schlüchtern) to Philipp Sladek (Bad Soden-Salmünster), many committed personalities are represented.
Educational perspectives and challenges
The education policy of the new federal government also placed a strong focus on infrastructural measures. Renovating schools, expanding the digital infrastructure and hiring more teachers are at the top of the agenda. The StartChances program, which provides 20 billion euros for schools in socially disadvantaged areas, is an important step. Nevertheless, critical voices have become loud that note that the quality of the training content is often neglected. There is a lack of concepts for modern curricula and didactic improvements.
In addition, there is a clear need for action in the area of vocational training. It is necessary to strengthen adult education and continuous training in order to effectively address the shortage of skilled workers. Proposals include, among other things, greater funding for continuing vocational training and tax incentives for employees. Without these measures, the challenge of attracting qualified specialists remains.
The Young Liberals' summer tour runs until the end of August and is intended to actively involve people in the Main-Kinzig district in the discussion about their future. There is therefore no question that the political challenges in the district can only be tackled together.
