New consortium agreement: Varisano clinics rely on long-term cooperation!
The newly drawn up consortium agreement for the Varisano clinic network brings a breath of fresh air and sets the course for the future of the clinics in the Main-Taunus district and Frankfurt am Main. Michael Cyriax, district administrator of the Main-Taunus district, and Dr. Bastian Bergerhoff, head of the hospital department in the city of Frankfurt, commented on the contract, which is seen as a viable basis for in-depth cooperation. The aim is to ensure high-quality, patient-friendly care close to home until at least 2030.
The network of clinics, which was renamed “varisano GmbH” on January 1, 2026, is expected to generate a balanced annual result by 2030. In order for the association to achieve economic independence, the shareholders are prepared to assume financial obligations for their subgroups. Frankfurt Live reports that the new consortium agreement comprises a total of 29 pages and contains fewer regulations than its predecessor, which indicates increased trust between the partners.
Common goals and structure
The new contract also focuses on deeper cooperation and the creation of synergy effects. In the future, the losses of the individual clinics are to be borne by the respective main shareholder. This ensures a more stable economic basis. A new supervisory board will be increased from 12 to 15 members, with four members coming from the city of Frankfurt, four from the Main-Taunus district and four from the employees. In addition, three external experts will expand the committees’ expertise.
In particular, the new building of a training academy, which is to be built at a suitable location, shows the clinic network's ambitions to be prepared for future challenges in the healthcare system. Even if there is criticism of the composition of the supervisory board with the focus on the shareholders, solutions are warming up.
Outlook for the future
The consortium agreement has already been approved by both shareholders, and the city council in Frankfurt will vote on it on December 11th and the district council of the Main-Taunus district on December 15th, 2023. If everything goes according to plan, the new contract could come into force at the beginning of 2026. The Frankfurter Neue Presse states that the association is planning an economic rise with the previous loss of 20 million euros last year.
All in all, the newly drafted consortium agreement of the Varisano clinic group promises a promising future that not only serves financial stability, but also benefits local patients. It is clear that the coming years will be crucial for establishing and implementing these goals.
