Odenwälder Marzipan: A piece of home flies to the moon!

In an exciting and unique initiative, the Odenwälder marzipan pastry shop is taking part in a mission that could probably attract more attention than any chocolate Easter bunny. Odenwälder Marzipan will be the first manufacturer of its kind whose handmade premium marzipan will find a place in space. Lena Ziegmann from the marketing department says that taking part in this special mission represents an exciting challenge. Together with Orbit for Life, an impressive moon plaque was created, the production of which did not pose any particularly big hurdles, but still required a lot of creative skill.

To prepare for the trip to the moon, a special batch of the marzipan was carefully set aside. This “Moon Edition” is also produced in the shape of the Königsberger Bruch and is intended to offer lovers of fine sweets a piece of the original mass that will actually fly into space. Each pack contains some of the marzipan that will soon leave the earth behind, reports Echo Online.

Marzipan and the journey into space

The handmade “moon marzipan” was specially sealed in Weilbach and sent to the NASA launch pad in Cape Canaveral, Florida. This mission aims to transport a golden pyramid containing cultural treasures from Switzerland and Germany to the South Pole of the Moon. Owner Gerd Zuber sees this fantastic opportunity not only as an opportunity for his craft, but also for craftsmanship in general, which such projects bring into focus worldwide. “This connection to the mission came about through personal contacts with ESA,” adds Zuber, who founded his pastry shop in 1978 and is now gradually handing it over to his children.

The marzipan moon plaque has now arrived at NASA and is ready for launch. The plan is for the rocket to take off this year and for the marzipan to be placed on the moon as a cultural artifact along with fine Swiss chocolate, organic wine and an exquisite single malt whiskey. In addition, a seed bank will be set up to ensure the diversity of life in space. Zuber encourages young people in particular to recognize and take advantage of the opportunities and possibilities that crafts offer the German craft newspaper reported, among other things.

The importance for the craft

The attention drawn by the moon mission to the traditional art of marzipan making is a real stroke of luck for the Odenwälder marzipan pastry shop. “We have a good knack for projects like this,” says Zuber with a smile as he speaks of the historic opportunity that benefits his employees and the craft as a whole.

With a clear goal in mind, we'll soon be heading to the moon - and with a particularly sweet ambassador in our luggage. This shows once again that Odenwälder Marzipan is not only very popular in terms of taste, but will also find a place as a piece of culture and craftsmanship in the vastness of the universe. So this mission not only provides a look at the stars, but also lets the tradition of marzipan making shine in a whole new way Cake Central could be summarized appropriately.
