Offenbach: The safest city in Hesse surprises with record numbers!
Offenbach am Main has once again taken an outstanding position in the police crime statistics, because in 2024 the city was named the safest large city in Hesse. According to the report by East Hesse News 6,046 crimes were registered per 100,000 inhabitants in Offenbach, which corresponds to a decrease of an astonishing 17.82 percent compared to the previous year. This means that Offenbach is not only at the top in Hesse, but also as the fourth safest city in all of Germany.
“There are only three major cities in Germany that have an even lower crime rate,” explains Paul-Gerhard Weiß, head of the public order department, and emphasizes that the perceived safety of citizens often differs from the actual numbers. The security architecture in Offenbach is a central factor for this positive trend.
Long-term developments
This decline in most crimes is in stark contrast to trends in other cities. A look at the crime statistics also shows that the increase in assault offenses and certain offenses against sexual self-determination is remarkable, but does not cloud the positive overall trend in Offenbach. The statistics on juvenile crime, which have already been reduced in recent years, also show progress.
