Breakthrough at Kaiserlei: New residential project started for Offenbach!

Something is happening in Offenbach: A significant breakthrough was announced today at Kaiserlei. The Frankfurt housing association ABG and the city of Offenbach have agreed on the use of the KWU area. This agreement was sealed by a Letter of Intent (LoI), which will soon be presented to the city council for a final decision. The new “Kaiserviertel” is to be built at Kaiserlei, which will not only include living space, but also jobs and a daycare center. This could open a new chapter in Offenbach's urban development, from which many could benefit in the future.

But it's not that simple. The KWU towers, which are part of this project, are not owned by the city of Offenbach and have complicated negotiations. Nevertheless, a promising concept is emerging. The plans include 354 dormitory places for students, which are funded by the state of Hesse. A third of these apartments will be set up as publicly funded student residences, along with another 97 apartments that also fall into this category. A total of 23.2% of the gross floor area will be used for publicly subsidized housing, which will promote social mix in this new district.

Planned infrastructure and jobs

An important focus is also on the parking spaces: with 0.6 parking spaces per rental apartment and at least 707 car parking spaces provided, the high parking pressure in the area is taken into account. The CDU and the Left are optimistic about the planned parking spaces and the mix of residential and commercial space, which is of great importance for the quality of life in the area.
