A new wind is blowing at Kickers Offenbach: Martin Pieckenhagen will steer the club's fortunes as sports director from November 21, 2025. The 53-year-old can look back on an impressive career that has taken him from the goalkeeper position at Hansa Rostock to the management level of a club. “We have great potential,” said Pieckenhagen optimistically about the possibilities of his new challenge, while the Kickers are currently ranked 13th in the Regionalliga Südwest – just four measly points ahead of the relegation zone.
What's behind Pieckenhagen's commitment? During his time as sports director at Hansa Rostock, he provided a lot of positive influences. Under his leadership, the club was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2021. Unfortunately, this success did not last: in 2023, relegation back to the 3rd league followed, which ultimately led to Pieckenhagen's departure. Between 1996 and 2001 he looked after the goal for Hansa Rostock and gained valuable experience that will certainly benefit him in his new role, reports the Nordkurier.
The outlook for Kickers Offenbach
The Kickers have set themselves clear goals: promotion to the third division is at the top of the agenda. They will tackle this with Pieckenhagen at the helm, who was already linked to Hallescher FC before accepting the offer from Offenbach.
