Major fire rocks Seligenstadt: monastery nursery in flames!

A new chapter has recently opened in the Offenbach region, and there are several exciting pieces of news that both delight and inform citizens. From cultural highlights to innovative transport solutions to current challenges: there is something for everyone here.

What's going on in our region? The starting signal was given on June 23, 2025 Special Olympics State Games in Hanau, an event that brings many athletes together and raises anticipation for sporting competitions throughout the entire catchment area. In addition, the summer festival at the Franziskanergymnasium Kreuzburg is about to begin on July 1st and 2nd - a highlight that is particularly popular with families. A district festival in Klein-Auheim on July 5th will bring even more colors into the life of the city.

Major fire in Seligenstadt

Unfortunately, there is also less good news: A large fire in the monastery garden center in Seligenstadt shocked the region. Reports from the criminal police are in progress and numerous helpers have already been recognized. Thanks to drone images and current photos, the public remains informed about the situation.

Traffic restrictions

Road users should also keep an eye on the traffic situation in Hesse. The B45 is only accessible to a limited extent due to the renovation of 25 kilometers of road between Klein-Auheim and Steinheim, while on the B43a the right lane is closed due to acute damage to the transition structure. So the motto here is: stay flexible and keep an eye on the new traffic routing!

Good news for those interested in culture: The old parish church in Steinheim will reopen on weekends from June 28th to September 21st from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., including a digital tour that gives us an unhindered look into the history of the church.

Innovations in local transport

Offers an exciting new offering kvgOF Hopper: This innovative on-demand shuttle complements the existing public transport in the Offenbach district. Without a fixed timetable, passengers can plan their journey individually. An algorithm bundles the requests in real time and gets passengers to their destination quickly. The emphasis here is on sustainability because the vehicles are predominantly fully electric.

The Ministry of Transport in Baden-Württemberg has already had promising experiences with similar models. Constant work is being done to further strengthen the integration of on-demand transport, in particular to make the first and last mile in local public transport easier, and thus reduce the barriers to use. The Future public transport network supports local actors and strives for better networking.

There are also cultural offerings, such as the summer concert on July 1st in the garden of the Konrad Adenauer School, which celebrates 25 years of school cooperation. And don't forget the 25th anniversary of the Friends of St. Gabriel, which will be celebrated with a musical supporting program.

With this in mind, all we can do is enjoy the events in the region and at the same time take responsibility for our environment - be it by using innovative means of transport or supporting local cultural projects. There's a lot going on in our region, there's something in the air!
