Huge cloud of smoke over Offenbach: Fire brigade fights warehouse fire

A huge cloud of smoke is moving over Offenbach-Bürgel: Today, August 14, 2025, there was a major fire in a warehouse that is visible as far as Frankfurt. Around 100 firefighters have been fighting the flames since 1 p.m., which have not yet been completely extinguished but have now been brought under control. The operation of the Offenbach professional fire department and volunteer fire departments from Rumpenheim, Waldheim and Bieber is expected to last until around 5 p.m.

In the plant hall that burned down, which also housed some vehicles, neighboring greenhouses were also affected. The police are on site with two water cannons, and the rescue service and the technical relief organization are supporting the work. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The city has issued a warning warning residents of possible odor nuisances in Bürgel and Mühlheim that could be caused by the fire.

Major fire department operation

The situation requires the full commitment of the fire department, with support staff from Obertshausen, Mühlheim, Neu-Isenburg and Seligenstadt also helping actively. An operation of this magnitude shows how important it is for the various units to work together in such emergencies.

Weather conditions and global fire danger

While the fire brigade in Offenbach is fighting the flames, the weather is creating additional challenges. A high temperature of 69°F with scattered clouds and a strong northwest wind blowing between 15 to 38 mph could complicate the situation. This is also reminiscent of the massive risk of forest fires in several regions of Spain, where the flames are spreading uncontrollably. Such weather conditions require the utmost attention and fire prevention measures.

In a further context, sunrise is already scheduled for 5:13 a.m. in Stary Oskol on August 15th. The day length is 14 hours and 39 minutes, which is inviting for a variety of outdoor activities, although air quality is currently classified as slightly risky, according to reports in the region near Offenbach.
