Schwalm-Eder Music School: Aloha to the future with a new team!

The Schwalm-Eder Nord music school in Melsungen, which looks back on a proud 30-year tradition, has reorganized its personnel under the leadership of Michael Wolf, who has been at the helm of the school since April 2025. Wolf, who has been working here for almost 20 years, and his team are pursuing the goal of making the school more agile and digital. Marion Karmann also brings new life to the institution, as she has been the chairwoman of the Schwalm-Eder Nord Music School Association since March 2025 HNA reported.

Around 1,300 students are currently taking part in a wide range of teaching opportunities. The music school not only offers parent-child courses for the little ones from the age of two, but also early musical education for children from the age of four. This is followed by instrumental lessons, which are delegated to a total of 42 teachers and cover 20 different instruments, including piano, drums and the increasingly popular ukulele.

Entry into the world of ukuleles

The ukulele, a guitar-like plucked instrument with four strings, has its origins in Hawaii, where it translates to “jumping flea.” Their characteristic sound is created by the often octave fourth string, which is tuned higher than the middle strings. The ukulele became known through various icons, including Marilyn Monroe in “Some Like It Hot” and Stefan Raab, who ensured its popularity in Germany with his show “TV-Total”. The lessons take place at several locations, including Gudensberg and Guxhagen, and are particularly popular with advanced guitarists like the Schwalm-Eder North Music School explained.

A pilot project dedicated to teaching music theory and history is planned for the coming months. This is intended to help students develop a deeper understanding of the music. In addition, a concert entitled “Quiet tones, loud tones” will take place in the Bürgersaal in Gudensberg on August 23, 2025. This event opens with a special Hawaiian version of “Over the Rainbow” on the ukulele, further building anticipation for the musical highlight.
