Full closure of the K13: Where and when construction work begins!
From July 16th to August 1st, 2025, district road 13 (K 13) between Fritzlar and Wabern-Zennern will be completely closed. The reason for the closure is necessary construction work at the level crossing, which will temporarily disrupt the traffic situation in the region. Road users must be prepared for the diversion to run in both directions via the L 3150, the B 450 and the B 253. Nevertheless, the residential area at the airport and the street “Am Spieß” remain accessible. However, Waberner Straße cannot be used as a bypass as it is also closed. This information is provided by the Vogelsberger Zeitung, which asks for your understanding of the restrictions during the construction work.
The construction work is part of a comprehensive renovation that has been ongoing since May 8, 2023 and affects the bridge on the B 450 over the B 253 near Fritzlar. The investments amount to around 2.4 million euros. Hessen Mobil is planning to renew the roadway on the B 450, which will extend to the roundabout at Erfurter Ring. The work is divided into two sections, with the first section - with the renewed road surface between the B 253 and the access to the hangar of the Bundeswehr airfield - expected to be completed by mid-July hessen.de. The second section will last until the Hessian Traditional Costume Festival.
Impairments in local public transport
Local public transport is also particularly affected: the “Zennern Tor” stop will not be served during the construction period. The “Flugplatz Haupttor” on Berliner Straße serves as a replacement stop. The course has been laid for construction work to proceed smoothly, but users of local public transport must still expect significant restrictions.
Safety on the construction site
Construction sites are not only necessary to improve road infrastructure, they can also pose risks for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians safe-roads.org. In order to ensure greater overview and transparency during this time, there are special digital tools that enable citizens to find out about current construction sites. This way you can quickly see which streets are closed and how best to navigate around the construction sites. This digital construction site tool offers intuitive operation that allows you to view construction sites on an interactive map and obtain information about closures, diversions and possible completion dates.
We appeal to all road users to drive particularly carefully during these construction measures and to include alternative routes in their planning. Safety and patience are the be-all and end-all in these times.
