In the Alsfeld Museum Barn, everything revolves around the diverse “near and far perspectives”! Until July 20, 2025, art lovers have the opportunity to view the works of the late doctor and amateur painter Dr. Marvel at Heinz Brehm. The Bebra native, who was born in 1935, also had a creative streak after studying medicine in Kiel and a successful career as an ophthalmologist in Alsfeld, which he intensified in retirement. His paintings - including landscapes, still lifes and sacred motifs - reflect a precise view of the world that he perfected in his final years.
The exhibition, which was organized by the sons Christoph and Tinus Brehm in collaboration with the art patron Bettina Köhler, has the artist's friends and acquaintances looking forward to the reception of his works. An emotional moment was the opening, at which Christoph Brehm remembered his father, whose artistic talent was already evident in childhood. “He returned to painting during a life crisis,” explained Brehm, “and this is reflected in the critical references to time in many of the pictures,” according to oberhessische-zeitung.de.
