An unpleasant event occurred in the parking lot of a REWE store in Schotten. On June 20, 2025, between 1:45 p.m. and 2:15 p.m., a tablet was stolen from a blue Chrysler that was parked in the parking lot. Fortunately, the car remained intact and no material damage was caused. The police in Lauterbach are now looking for clues about the theft, which is raising eyebrows in an increasingly uncertain time. Unfortunately, such incidents are not isolated cases. A look at the current crime situation shows that thefts are becoming increasingly common. In 2022, a total of around 1.78 million thefts were recorded by the police in Germany, which represents an increase compared to the previous year. Thefts from and in motor vehicles were particularly common. This type of crime is particularly concerning because one often cannot be sure that one's car is safe, even during short errands. Recent trends in theft crime
There was also another incident recently on Röderstrasse in Schotten. On May 15, 2025, between 6:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., registration plates were stolen from a gray Opel Corsa that was parked in front of a residential building.
