Lauterbach fire department: 96,690 euros for a new fire engine!
The Lauterbach Volunteer Fire Department can look forward to generous support of 96,690 euros from the state of Hesse. This funding is used to purchase a new TLF 4000 tank fire engine, which is equipped, among other things, with a pressure proportioning system. The Minister of Homeland Security, Roman Poseck, personally presented the funding decision during his visit to Lauterbach. The new vehicle will be equipped with a 5,000 liter water tank and will have the ability to mix foam, which will greatly improve operational capability.
The Hessian state government has invested more than 270,000 euros in fire protection in Lauterbach in the last four years. In this context, over one million euros have been invested in 14 vehicles and 18 structural measures in the Vogelsberg district over the past two years. Last year, seven vehicles and eleven structural measures were funded with more than 600,000 euros in the district alone. This continuous support shows how serious the state government is about fire protection, as it plans to invest around 69 million euros in fire and disaster protection in 2025, as oberhessen-live.de reports.
Sustainable investments in fire protection
The promotion of fire engines and houses is a central concern of fire protection in Hesse. In 2024, over 20 million euros were available to support 144 vehicles and 85 structural measures. An approval rate of over 90 percent of the applications received was achieved. These figures make it clear that the Hessian state government is continuing its commitment to fire protection. The grants are awarded in accordance with the fire protection funding guidelines, and municipalities are asked to create priority lists for planned projects, as feuerwehr.hessen.de highlights.
In the last ten years, funding for more than 1,700 emergency vehicles and over 550 structural measures has increased to almost 200 million euros. These constant investments show that the deployment of the fire brigade and disaster control has a high priority in Hesse.
Social respect and recognition
The now updated initiative by Interior Minister Roman Poseck also addresses respect for firefighters. Measures have been announced to offer emergency services more recognition and protection. The minimum sentence for physical attacks on emergency services should be increased from three to six months. In addition, various campaigns to increase the visibility and appreciation of the approximately 80,000 volunteers in fire and disaster protection are being planned, as feuerwehr-fachjournal.de reports.
The city of Lauterbach is grateful for the state's financial support and efforts to improve the fire protection infrastructure. Mayor Rainer-Hans Vollmöller and District Administrator Dr. Jens Mischak emphasized the importance of these investments and their positive impact on fire protection in the region.
