District road 63 near Bernsburg is open again: Millions of investments for the future!

The shovels are stowed away and the construction site is history! District road 63 between Antrifttal-Bernsburg and the junction towards Arnshain shines in new splendor again after extensive renovation work. How Upper Hesse-live reported, the delicious road has now been officially opened. The work, which has been carried out by Hessen Mobil on behalf of the Vogelsberg district since mid-August, was completed in time for winter and can therefore cope with future traffic loads, as Marius Schäfer, head of construction at Hessen Mobil, emphasizes.

As his colleague First District Councilor Patrick Krug explains, there is not only a lot of money behind this measure, but also a comprehensive plan to improve the infrastructure in the entire Vogelsberg district. These include the Hopfmannsfeld through town, the K 66 near Fischbach and the Groß-Felda through town, which are also in focus. For the next five years, the investment plan includes a total of around nine million euros to renovate and maintain the roads in the district.

Investments for a secure future

An additional 1.1 million euros are earmarked for ceiling renovations in 2026. This represents an increase of 50 percent compared to previous years. The renovation of district road 63 incurred costs of 750,000 euros, of which around 480,000 euros were funded by the state of Hesse. The reason for the repair work was the various damages that the road surface had suffered over the years, particularly due to periods of frost.

Renewing the asphalt layers in the elevated pavement and paving the roadside areas with grass pavers not only improved the ride quality, but also strengthened the longevity of the road. During the construction work it was necessary to completely close the affected route - but the diversions that led via the K 64 to the L 3070 to Arnshain were well accepted. The Vogelsbergkreis would like to thank all road users for their patience during the temporary inconvenience.

In summary, the renewal of the K 63 is not only a step towards better infrastructure, but also a sign that the Vogelsbergkreis cares intensively about the mobility and safety of its citizens. Something is happening and people can look forward to improved connections in the region!
