Michelin star for Frankenberg: Philipp Soldan remains front runner!

Like a beautiful, refreshing spring day, a happy event was announced for gourmets in Hesse on June 17, 2025: the renowned gourmet restaurant Philipp Soldan at the Hotel Die Sonne Frankenberg has once again received a Michelin star. This success underlines the impressive continuity of the house, which has been honored with this award continuously since 2010.

Erik Arnecke, the talented chef who has been at the helm since 2015, is instrumental in making the restaurant so popular. The jury particularly appreciates the creative 5-course menu, which regularly amazes guests. An example of Arnecke's art is the North Sea plaice, served with Irish rock oyster, bacon emulsion and cress cream. And those looking for something special can indulge in upgrades such as Japanese Wagyu beef or an international cheese selection, making the menu even more exciting.

Unique enjoyment in Frankenberg

The Restaurant Philipp Soldan is located in the basement of the Stadtweinhaus in Frankenberg, an attractive combination of three restored historic houses in the old town. Access is from both the Untermarkt and the interior, making the restaurant easily accessible for visitors. For those interested in diving into the world of gastronomy, a particularly recommended 3-course menu for gourmet beginners is offered on Sunday lunchtime. Here, traditional craftsmanship meets modern implementation - a pleasure that invites you to linger.

In the Waldeck-Frankenberg region, Philipp Soldan is the only restaurant to hold the coveted Michelin award. Hesse can boast a total of 18 star restaurants, including the “Marburger Dining Room” in Marburg. What is particularly outstanding is that... Lafleur in Frankfurt is the only address in the state that has been awarded two stars. There are currently 341 star restaurants throughout Germany, with 282 having one star, 47 having two stars and 12 having three stars - an impressive number that illustrates the high density of top restaurants.

A feast for all senses

The Michelin star is not only a symbol of culinary enjoyment, but also of the dedication and passion that goes into every dish. The award shows that creative and innovative gastronomy can also celebrate remarkable success in smaller regions. A visit to Philipp Soldan is not only a gastronomic experience, but also a journey into the world of flavors and textures.

Hesse may not have the most starred restaurants compared to other federal states, but the few that exist prove that quality and creativity are the real stars of gastronomy. And so we can only hope that Philipp Soldan will continue to delight its guests with new creations in the future. It's worth spending an evening there and letting Erik Arnecke's cuisine take you away!
