There is a breath of fresh air in district football in Waldeck: Björn Tobien is the new deputy district football manager. He succeeds Carsten Strippel, who resigned from his position after about a year and a half. Strippel cited both personal circumstances and the time challenges of his involvement with TuS Bad Arolsen as the reason for his withdrawal. Dirk Emmert, the acting district football manager, was understanding about this decision, which was promptly called to fill the vacant position. WLZ Online reports, that Tobien, who was elected as an assessor in 2024 and worked as a class leader in two district leagues, was able to convince with his commitment and his experience as an active referee.
The district football committee (KFA) decided on an internal solution and praised Tobien's previous football career. The division of responsibilities for the individual leagues remains unchanged. Ingo Göbel will also take over Strippel's duties as volunteer representative and treasurer in the district committee. The KFA also has the option of appointing an additional assessor. All of these changes have already been approved by the Hessian Football Association and prove to be a step in the right direction for the region.
Volunteer heroes in football
In addition to these changes in district football, voluntary work is also very important in our region. This is particularly clear in the honors that were awarded as part of the Waldeck Football District. Mario Thiele and Fabian Waid are this year's winners of the volunteer award. Thiele is involved as chairman and caretaker, while Waid is not only active as a trainer but also as an assessor on the board. Their honor took place as part of the TuS Kleinern Christmas party and the annual general meeting of TSV Freienhagen. Thiele, who has been football chairman of TSV Freienhagen since 2011, has made a significant contribution to the integration of young players into the senior sector and also looks after the clubhouse. Waid is also active as a trainer and takes responsibility for various youth teams, where he was able to significantly increase the number of players. Both impressively show how important voluntary commitment is to football, not only for the clubs, but also for the community.
