Musical highlight: benefit concert by the New Philharmonic in Eschwege!
A very special evening was celebrated on October 28, 2025 in the Eschweger Stadthalle. The New Philharmonic Frankfurt thrilled the visitors at the benefit concert organized by the Sparkasse Werra-Meißner. The aim of the evening was to collect a total of 50,000 euros to support five social projects in the Werra-Meißner district.
The evening was planned without any big greetings; rather, the focus was on the music. Under the direction of Jens Troester, impressive works such as the first movement from Robert Schumann's “Rhenish Symphony” were performed. The concert entitled “Aquamania” offered a crossover between pop, rock and classical music, and the soloists Lorena Huber, Dan Lucas and Karsten Stiers, together with a background choir, provided musical highlights. The audience was entertained with “River” songs by Bruce Springsteen and Emeli Sandé as well as Smetana’s “Moldau” and “Smoke on the Water” by Deep Purple.
Diversity for a good cause
A large part of the money collected for the evening comes from the Sparkasse Werra-Meißner's innovative PS-Los-Sparen, which brought in over 146,000 euros last year. Around 63,500 euros will flow directly to non-profit institutions in the district, while around 83,000 euros will be available to the Sparkasse Foundation “Preserve the Good – Shape the Future”. The savings bank encourages its customers to buy even more PS tickets - the more tickets, the more support for local clubs.
The said 50,000 euros will be distributed among others to the following projects in the Werra-Meißner district:
- Familienzentrum Bad Sooden-Allendorf
- Nachbarschaftsring Witzenhausen
- Bürgerhilfe Sontra
- Gemein-Statt Großalmerode
- Arche Hessisch Lichtenau
In 2024, the Sparkasse has made a total of 175,000 euros available from the PS-Los savings for social institutions in Hesse, of which 125,000 euros will go to the Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband for twelve projects in Hesse. “It is important to us to promote culture and voluntary commitment,” explained Sparkasse President Stefan Reuß during the concert.
An unforgettable evening
The musical contributions of the Neue Philharmonie Frankfurt ensured that the atmosphere in the hall blossomed. Solutions for everyday life and happy songs such as “Like Ice in the Sunshine”, “Surfin’ USA” and “Sommer, Sonne, Kaktus” brought joy of life to the audience, while eruptive encores such as “It’s Raining Men” caused enthusiasm.
Moderated by Janina Klabes, who charmingly explained the connections between the pieces, the evening was a pleasure for everyone involved. The event was rounded off with an appreciation of voluntary commitment, which is so important for society, as District Administrator Nicole Rathgeber emphasized.
With a warm call to everyone present to continue buying PS tickets, the evening concluded with a clear commitment to social commitment in the region.
