Gisela Morzeck: The heroine of Nidda fights for clean streets!
There is a very special woman in Nidda who wholeheartedly supports her fellow human beings and the environment: Gisela Morzeck. The retired master tailor has dedicated herself to helping people in need and shows impressive commitment. For four years, together with her friend Ilona Ackermann, she crocheted cuddly dolls and animals from leftover wool for children with cancer at the Peiper ward at the Gießen University Clinic. Morzeck also uses her creative talents to sew blankets for people with dementia in a women's self-help group after cancer.
But that's not all - she continues to live out her passion for tailoring by making garbage bags from the silk of discarded parachutes. This environmentally conscious approach has already led to the production of 500 bags, which will now be used at the upcoming state garden show.
A look into the past
Gisela Morzeck was born in Bad Nauheim in 1949 and grew up in Nieder-Mörlen. She began her tailoring training at the age of 16 and has since experienced the changes in the textile craft first hand. In 1989 she opened a shop in Nidda, where she not only offers new productions and alterations, but also sells sewing accessories. Over the years she has passed on the craft to many young people, training a total of six women and two men, including a deaf Greek who dared to make a new start with her guidance.
However, your commitment doesn't stop at work. Gisela is also part of the citizens' initiative “(Z)-Sauberhaftes Nidda”, where she regularly takes part in garbage collection campaigns. Your efforts to keep the city clean are exemplary. Together with her husband, she looks after an overgrown parking lot, from which she makes many flowers and bee troughs with her active support.
