Ockstadt celebrates the reopening of the community center after a long break!
The Ockstädter Bürgerhaus restaurant has finally opened its doors again after being closed for two and a half years. The ceremonial reopening took place last Sunday, where the Coskuner family warmly welcomed the guests. This celebration was not only a milestone for the operators, but also a sign of revitalization for the Ockstadt district, which belongs to the town of Friedberg in the Wetterau district.
Before it closed, the restaurant was a popular meeting place for many regulars. The closure occurred when the previous tenant retired. The city took this as an opportunity to carry out extensive renovation work, in which a six-figure sum was invested. Mayor Kjetil Dahlhaus and many guests from politics and clubs did not miss the opportunity to attend the reopening. City councilor Hendrik Hollender and mayor Stefanie Kipp presented gifts and flowers to the new tenants.
New operators, new concept
The Coskuner family, who have been running a catering service in Friedberg for over 15 years, are now looking forward to running the community center. The new premises offer a modern kitchen, a cold store and staff rooms, while the sanitary facilities were renovated before the closure. The new menu offers pizzas, pasta dishes, schnitzels, burgers, steaks and fresh salads. The restaurant is open Monday to Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to midnight, while both lunch and dinner are served on Sundays.
The feedback from the Ockstadt club world is consistently positive. Oswald Jung from the working group of Ockstadt associations explains that everyone is happy about the new tenants. Fatos Coskuner and her team feel like they have arrived in Ockstadt and strive to offer a high standard.
Future plans and further developments
Further work is already planned for the near future. The beer garden should be prepared and the bowling alley should be put back into operation next spring. Particular attention is paid to addressing cycle tourists, who are to be attracted thanks to the community center's convenient location near the Äppelwoiweg. The facade of the community center is also still in need of renovation.
But it's not just the restaurant itself that should flourish; The city of Friedberg also selected the Ahmetovic family as caterers for the community center in a parallel project. The family will initially offer catering to order for three months starting March 1, 2024. This shows the dynamism and diverse opportunities that Ockstadt wants to offer its residents. A contract is currently still being negotiated.
With a colorful program and a variety of offers, Ockstadt shows itself at its best. It is clear: the reopening of the community center restaurant is a ray of hope for the district and a step towards a successful future.
