Rhine in flames: Germany's largest fireworks festival inspires!
On July 5, 2025 it will be that time again: the huge fireworks festival “Rhine in Flames” will attract thousands of visitors to Bingen and Rüdesheim. This event, which has been on the program since 1977, is the largest of its kind in Germany and transforms the night into a sea of color. [bingen.de]. However, you should hurry because capacities are limited!
Around 30 ships take part in this impressive spectacle and sail through the UNESCO World Heritage “Upper Middle Rhine Valley”. A special highlight is the return journey from Trechtingshausen, where visitors can experience five spectacular fireworks displays as well as the large final fireworks display in Bingen and Rüdesheim. In addition to the magnificent fireworks, regional cuisine is also offered on the “all-inclusive” party ships, accompanied by live music. The Rüd Event GmbH ships depart from Wiesbaden.
Supporting program and festivities
The supporting program begins on July 4, 2025 with a warm-up on the Binger Kulturufer. On the following day, July 5th, local restaurateurs and winemakers will provide a varied land-based offering from 3 p.m. But that's not all: July 6th also marks the 15th anniversary of the free Kulturuferfest in Bingen, so the celebrations this weekend couldn't be better coordinated.
The event not only attracts locals, but also guests from all over the world. The ships depart in the late afternoon or early evening to enjoy the wonderful sunset and the fairytale castles along the Rhine. rhein-in-flammen.com emphasizes that the guests on board the illuminated ships in the convoy can not only experience the highlights of the fireworks, but also admire the painstakingly staged burning castles and impressive Bengal fires.
Practical information and number of helpers
The event is organized by Bingen Tourismus & Kongress GmbH and Rüd Event GmbH. Over 400 helpers from the region will ensure everything runs smoothly and offer guests an unforgettable experience. The ferry connection between Rüdesheim and Bingen remains in operation until around 1 a.m., allowing visitors to enjoy the event to the fullest. The ships dock again at around midnight, so good planning is recommended.
