Swap instead of buy: clothing campaign in the Wiesbaden environmental store!
A very special event will soon take place in Wiesbaden that appeals to fashion-conscious people and environmental lovers alike. The environmental store at Luisenstrasse 19 is starting a clothing exchange campaign on July 28th that will last until August 22nd. The initiative is part of the “Stuff for Thought” program, which addresses the dark side of textile production and the disadvantages of fast-moving fashion. Not only are items of clothing exchanged, but awareness is also created about the origins and production conditions of fashion.
Why all this? With the exchange initiative, the environmental consultancy in Wiesbaden would like to set an example against the overproduction of clothing and offer everyone the opportunity to act more sustainably. Visitors are invited to bring a maximum of five well-preserved and clean items of clothing - be it a sweater, trousers or a dress - to exchange. So if you want to free up space in your closet and at the same time bring a breath of fresh air into your wardrobe, this is the perfect opportunity.
Diverse offers and exhibitions
But that's not all! The exhibition in the environmental shop deals with topics such as guaranteed environmental standards and greenwashing and gives tips for more conscious shopping, longer wearing and proper care of clothing. The exhibition runs until October 31st and offers exciting insights that make you think. From August 25th there will also be a clothing exchange specifically for men's clothing, and from September 29th there will be a special exchange table for handicraft items such as wool and sewing accessories.
Would you like to get active and maybe even learn new things? Various accompanying events are planned as part of the program: notable readings, style and color advice as well as workshops on upcycling are on the program. These events not only offer entertainment, but also provide valuable knowledge about sustainability and fashion. Here are some highlights:
- 25. August, 18 Uhr: Lesung „In Zukunft anders“ mit Jürgen Drieschmanns
- 1. September, 17.30 bis 20 Uhr: Stil- und Farbberatung (Tickets für 10 Euro)
- 20. September, 12 bis 15 Uhr: Upcycling-Tag mit Siebdruck und Visible Mending
- 24. Oktober, 18 bis 19.30 Uhr: Lesung mit Armin Nufer
