In Wiesbaden there has been significant water damage on the Gustav-Stresemann-Ring since Friday morning, August 8th. At 10:52 a.m., a gray cast iron supply line from 1954 was torn open over a length of six meters. This incident occurred below the Brita Arena, at the level of the Federal Statistical Office. The consequences are serious: massive damage to the road and sidewalk is the result of severe erosion. Geologists confirmed the need to completely remove both the asphalt base layer and the asphalt surface layer, which is a total of 30 cm thick.
To ensure the safety of road users, the substructure must be renewed to a thickness of 60 cm over an area of 750 square meters. According to ESWE Supply, the priority is to restore the right lane that leads out of town, including the bus stop and the on-board system. The company plans to open one lane to traffic by September 1st. At the same time, the section of line between Wittelsbacher Strasse and Wettiner Strasse will also be renewed over a distance of 300 meters.

ESWE Supply, which is entrusted with the operational management of the water supply in Wiesbaden, reacted quickly and installed a new pipe during the night to replace the defective section of pipe. The procurement of materials and detailed planning for the renovation have already begun, and a detailed schedule will be presented shortly.
