Advent calendar in Ammerland: 150 prizes for a good cause!

The pre-Christmas period not only attracts with festive lights, but also with numerous activities for a good cause. A particularly nice project is the Advent calendar of the Ammerland Lions Clubs. This year 3,570 calendars will be sold, an increase of 270 compared to last year. The aim of the project is not only to enable numerous people to enjoy almost 150 prizes, but also to support social institutions in the region at the same time. The proceeds benefit, among others, Plexxon for a dementia support center, the Ammerland outpatient hospice service and the Ammerland-Wesermarsch women's and children's shelter. The calendars will be sold on Saturday, November 8th at various locations, including the Henken fashion store in Westerstede, the Duddeck wine shop in Rastede and the Haase bookstore in Edewecht. The price of a calendar is seven euros, and each person can purchase a maximum of five copies. The winning numbers will be drawn under notary supervision and announced both in the Ammerländer Nachrichten and on the website.

But the Lions Club has taken up this tradition not only in Ammerland, but also in Weilheim Ammersee. The Weilheim-Ammersee Lions Club is selling its own Advent calendar for the first time. At a price of five euros, it is slightly cheaper than its counterpart from Ammerland. In total, the calendar contains almost 180 prizes donated by local businesses. How Mercury reported that the income flows into social projects in the Weilheim-Schongau district, for example for needy children and families.

This calendar went on sale on November 2nd and is available at 23 different outlets across the city. Here, too, the winning numbers are published daily on the Lions Club website, so that the excitement is maintained and the supporters are always informed.

Both projects, the Advent calendars from Ammerland and Weilheim, impressively show how the Lions Clubs are committed to charitable causes. Sales and sponsors not only provide financial support to social institutions, but also create great awareness of local issues. The Advent calendars can be seen as a kind of connection between Christmas joy and social commitment. In recent years, the idea has also proven to be very successful - last year around 15,000 euros were distributed in the Ammerland region alone to support good projects.
