Ammerland Check 2025: How to rate your community for free!

An exciting project is coming up in the Ammerland region in the coming weeks that will put the quality of life in the communities to the test. Citizens have until November 2nd to give their opinions on topics such as traffic, safety, family friendliness and housing. The big Ammerland check, organized by the NWZ, promises not only valuable insights, but also the chance of winning a great prize. An e-bike worth 1,999 euros will be raffled off among all participants.

The survey includes almost 40 questions that are rated on a scale from 1 (negative) to 10 (positive). Among other things, she asks about quality of life, gastronomy, culture and medical care. There is also a free text field in which suggestions and wishes can be expressed. The results of the Ammerland Check will be published from mid-November and not only offer an average value for the entire region, but also detailed insights into the individual communities. The first Ammerland check in 2020 was already a complete success, with 6,546 people taking part and achieving an average of 6.9 points, with a need for action being identified, particularly in the real estate market. The survey is intended to once again help to increase the pressure on politics and administration and to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of the communities. Current information about the survey can be found at NWZ.

Population structure and housing situation

A look at the demographic conditions in the Ammerland district, which were determined by the 2022 census, shows interesting insights into the population. As of May 2022, 125,961 people lived here, with 48.7 percent being men and 51.3 percent being women. About 18 percent of the population is under 18 years old, while 21 percent is over 66 years old. Around 12 percent were not born in Germany, which underlines the cultural diversity of the region.

The living situation of the residents is also well documented: around 62,447 apartments are available, 60 percent of which are single-family homes. Most apartments are equipped with gas, oil or coal heating. The average net rent is a moderate 6.65 euros per square meter. This data makes it clear that living space in Ammerland is consistently very popular, but according to the Ammerland check, a need for action in the real estate market was also discovered. According to census data, 36 percent of the population lives in single-person households, while 32 percent are families with children. The social support is underlined by a low unemployment rate of just 3 percent. Further information on the population structure and housing conditions is available on NDR.

Participation and outlook

Participation in the Ammerland Check… is free and anonymous. The results of this survey will not only provide a picture of the current quality of life in Ammerland, but will also help initiate possible improvements. With the publication of the results from mid-November, the communities can then work specifically on their weaknesses and further develop their strengths. By participating, residents have the chance to take part in this important process and thus help shape the future of their region.

Overall, the Ammerland Check shows that interest in the quality of life in the region has grown. The opportunity to participate is open to all residents, and it is hoped that many will take the time to contribute their opinions and experiences. After all, there is still a lot of potential in the air for the communities!
