Voluntary craftsman service in Apen: Help for seniors active again!
In the municipality of Apen we are lending a hand again! A volunteer handyman service is available for seniors who need assistance with small repairs. After a six-month break during which help was not available, the Seniors' Advisory Board found a new helper, Svend Neve, to restart the service. This reports NWZ Online.
The handyman service is aimed specifically at older people in Apen and offers help with everyday household repairs, such as changing light bulbs, fixing squeaky doors or hanging pictures. The support is provided on a voluntary basis and for a small allowance of ten euros. All missions are insured and are coordinated by the seniors' advisory board, led by Reinhard Glaffig.
Overview of services
In the past, the craft service recorded between 20 and 30 assignments per year. However, the use of materials must be borne by the person seeking help. The offer is part of the “Seniors Helping Seniors” project, which was initiated by the Seniors Advisory Board to support older citizens.
The idea of installing a voluntary senior representative came about in 2004. The senior advisory board, founded on the initiative of the community in 1999, advises the council and administration on issues relevant to seniors. The Ammerland district is also involved and has, among other things, provided a “guide for senior citizens” online, as shown on apen.de is to be read.
Volunteer neighborhood help
But the craftsman service is not the only support for seniors in Apen. Neighborhood Help offers a wide range of assistance, ranging from household chores to doctor visits. Volunteer helpers are regularly deployed to relieve the burden on older people and make their everyday lives easier. The services, which are often subject to small expenses, are aimed at making it possible for people with limited mobility to spend time in their own four walls. This is based on information from active-rentner.de out.
If you are interested in these offers, you can contact Reinhard Glaffig directly to receive further information or to take advantage of the craftsman service. He can be reached by phone at 04489/4048079 or by email at r.glaffig@t-online.de. A consultation hour takes place every fourth Thursday of the month in the town hall.
In summary, it can be said that Apen, with its voluntary craftsman service and comprehensive support through neighborhood assistance, is a great example of living community. This ensures that older citizens always have a helping hand, even with small challenges.
