Music and pedals: Ammerland invites you to the big bike promenade!

On August 31, 2023, Ammerland's cycling friends can look forward to a musical highlight: the fifth edition of the Musical Bicycle Promenade brings art and culture to two wheels. 150 cyclists have already decided to go to the event's concerts, which are organized by Dr. Hildegard Schnetkamp Foundation is organized. This exciting tour leads through the beautiful communities of Edewecht, Bad Zwischenahn, Jeddeloh I and II, Gristede and Westerscheps. The three routes start at the Edewechter Mühle, the Landhaus Friedrichsfehn and the Ripken fashion house on Reihdamm in Bad Zwischenahn. Participants can enjoy an enchanting bike tour that features a variety of musical performances. Particular attention will be paid to the impressive joint concert by the Oldenburger Münsterland Youth Symphony Orchestra in Edewecht, where classics by Carl Maria von Weber and Franz Schubert will be heard, among others.

A colorful program for young and old

The Schnetkamp Foundation, which is actively involved in music projects for children and young people in the northwest, has prepared for this event in close collaboration with the Edewecht Cultural Office. The occasion is the 875th anniversary of the community. The bike tour takes participants to various concert locations, including the rhododendron park at the Bruns Nursery in Gristede, the Jeddeloher Zweibrücken Brewery and the Old Bull Stable in Jeddeloh, as well as the open-air museum “Tollhaus up’n Wurnbarg” in Westerscheps. Participants such as the Lower Saxony youth jazz band “Wind Machine”, the drum ensemble “Knallerbsen” and other talented artists will round off the experience.

For little cyclists and families, there is a shortened promenade that starts at 2:30 p.m. in Jeddeloh I and leads to the Edewecht market square in just three kilometers. The children's rock band “Die Blindfische” can be seen there - a real attraction for the young guests.

Participation and registration

The participation fee is 15 euros per person; for the family tour the price drops to 10 euros per family. The Edewecht Cultural Office recommends registering early, as the events in previous years were fully booked weeks in advance. As the experiences of recent years show, the series of musical bicycle promenades will continue in the future. After the great success of the first event in 2021, the promenade is now held regularly and is enjoying growing popularity.
