Burglary statistics and prevention

The incidents in Helsen are in the context of increasing numbers of burglaries in Germany. According to the 2023 police crime statistics, there were around 77,800 burglaries last year, which corresponds to a dramatic increase of 181 percent compared to the previous year, as the Emergency Call Experts report. Most break-ins, just like the failed attempt in Helsen, happen during the day, especially between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. The risk of such incidents increases particularly in the autumn and winter months.

Urban areas are particularly affected by break-ins, increasing the need for effective security measures. Mechanical security, such as burglar-resistant windows and doors, as well as modern security technology, including alarm systems and video surveillance, have proven to be extremely important in preventing break-ins. Almost every second break-in attempt fails because the perpetrators take too long to get into the building. Quick action is required here, both when installing security systems and when noticing suspicious activities in the neighborhood.

The number of burglaries, which temporarily fell during the corona pandemic, shows that the numbers are now increasing again. It is therefore essential to take continuous preventive measures and invest in security systems to ensure that your home is truly safe.

Stay vigilant and help keep your neighborhood safe!
