Jewelry store robbery in Aurich: Police ask for witness statements!
A robbery was carried out on the jewelry store “Schmuckzeit” in Aurich on Monday, as confirmed by NWZonline. Owner Hans Dübbelde was not in the store at the time of the incident, while two masked men entered around 12 p.m. The employees were threatened with violence and forced to open the lock on a shop window. The attack only lasted two minutes, but fortunately everyone involved was uninjured.
After the incident, it quickly became clear that not only material assets were affected - the employees were extremely shocked and were sent home. The store remained closed the next day while police took all necessary steps and took statements. The extent of the damage is still unclear and investigations are in full swing.
The escape of the perpetrators
The criminal police are looking for witnesses who can provide information about a dark Seat Cupra that was seen near the jewelry store. According to NWZonline, the car was observed in the Kirchstrasse/Lilienstrasse area at the time of the crime. Shortly after the attack, two men got into the vehicle and drove away towards Südbrookmerland. The police have not yet been able to establish a direct connection between the car and the attack and are asking the public for help. Information can be reported by calling 04941 – 606215.
Such acts of violence fuel fears and a decreasing sense of security among citizens. According to Statista there is an interesting development: While the number of registered crimes in Germany fell by 1.7 percent to around 5.74 million in 2024, violent crimes and sexual offenses increased. This imbalance is worrying and obscures not only the numbers but also human security as a valuable commodity.
Psychological consequences of attacks
Past attacks show the emotional aftereffects on those affected. An example of this is the case of a jeweler in Pressath, where a salesperson was tied up during a robbery and his family with children witnessed the situation. Such psychological stress can have long-term effects on the lives of those affected, as Oberpfalzecho reports. The financial burden caused by such attacks is also enormous, as there is often more than just material loss at stake.
The Aurich police are doing everything they can to quickly resolve the attack and hold the perpetrators accountable. At a time when the security situation is constantly being discussed, it is once again clear how important protection against crime is for everyday life.
