What kind of upswing is this in Braunschweig? After the surprising announcement of a continuation of the popular “Deep del Sol” festival, which has created a good atmosphere at the Lünischteich since 2013, rave fans are once again drawn to the Bürgerpark. The festival, which had grown from a small event with 50 participants to an event with around 1,000 visitors, originally closed its doors in 2023. Peter Groß, the main organizer, had clearly outlined the reasons at the time: the city did not keep its promises to beautify the area and it was not possible to found a supportive association. But now there is a change that many have longed for. According to news38.de the “Deep del Sol Open Air Fest” will take place in Bürgerpark on August 2nd, 2025.
There will be dancing in the Bürgerpark from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m., with regional DJs such as Rene' Schneider, Daniel B., Patrick O. Neal and Soul Pistol providing the masses with beats. Food is provided by the JimFood cart and drinks are also available. The organizers, the Ravefreunde Braunschweig, expressly ask that you do not bring your own drinks. A return to the roots
It is also exciting to think that the event symbolizes a kind of return to the beginnings of the festival. Everything started at the Lünischteich in 2013 – and now we want to build on this spirit. Of course, the mixed feelings associated with the closure in 2023 also play a role in this return. It is obvious that rave culture has become increasingly established in recent years. In 2024 alone, 32 similar events were organized in Germany and neighboring countries, as fazemag.de reports.
What makes the organizers particularly hopeful is the possibility of a continuation of this new format if the event is successful. A consistent focus on sustainability, such as the clear announcement to leave the park clean, shows that Braunschweig is on the right track. And there is no stopping the rave fans - August 2nd, 2025 should be marked in red on the calendar!
