Pastor Stefan Jasper-Bruns moves to Löningen – new challenges!

A change is imminent: Pastor Stefan Jasper-Bruns will move from Bösel to Löningen in February 2026 and take over the leadership of the Catholic parish of St. Vitus. This news caused a lot of conversation in church services last weekend. Parishioners were informed of the change, which will be celebrated in the Saint Vitus Church on February 22, 2026 nwzonline reported.

Since 2012, Jasper-Bruns has managed the fortunes of the parish of St. Cäcilia in Bösel. In Löningen he will succeed Bertholt Kerhoff, who moved to Cloppenburg in August. The municipalities of Löningen include Bunnen, Evenkamp and Benstrup, in which around 7,700 Catholics are active.

A look back

The committed pastor looks back gratefully on his time in Bösel. He particularly highlights the diverse events, including pilgrimages and well-attended community events. “A lot has developed,” he says of the vibrant community that is close to his heart. From February 2026, a parish administrator will be appointed in Sankt Cäcilia Bösel, whose position is currently vacant.

Jasper-Bruns, who comes from Recke in the Steinfurt district and was ordained a priest in Münster in 2004, has already had an eventful career. Previously he was vicar in Sankt Catharina Dinklage and chaplain in Cloppenburg until he took office in Bösel. He also holds various positions in Catholic associations, including the presidency of the KAB in Cloppenburg and the Kolping Society in the state of Oldenburg. Since July 2024 he has also been dean of the Friesoythe deanery.

A new beginning

“It makes sense to change a pastor’s position every 10 to 15 years,” says Jasper-Bruns, who is excited about the challenges ahead in Löningen. His anticipation of his new task is palpable, while at the same time he is saying goodbye to the familiar surroundings in Bösel. With a heartfelt thank you to the members of his old community, he ushers in a new phase of his life.

This change highlights the dynamism in the Catholic Church, where constant renewal and adaptation play an important role. Parishes must constantly reorient themselves to meet the needs of their members.
