Cuxhaven Shanty Choir inspires Munich residents and collects 2,750 euros!

An exciting and musical weekend for the Cuxhaven Shanty Choir. After an unfortunate cloudburst upon arrival at Munich Central Station, the members of the Munich International Choral Society (MICS) welcomed the Cuxhaven guests with a heartfelt song. This was the return visit of the Munich choir, which had already performed in Cuxhaven the previous year. This time too, community was a big theme, because the joint benefit concert took place in the Catholic parish church of St. Marien and had the aim of supporting projects of the association Wunschträume/Network for Girls & Women's Projects e.V. in Burkina Faso. Loud CNV Media 2750 euros were collected in donations at this warm event.

The concert in Munich-Sendling was under the patronage of Christian Ude, the former mayor of Munich, who warmly welcomed the visitors to a packed church. In his welcoming speech, Mayor Uwe Santjer also thanked Ude for his commitment and wished the guests an unforgettable evening. The two choirs, under the direction of Udo Brozio and Mary Ellen Kitchens, offered a varied program of sea shanties and shanties, which was certainly very well received.

A musical journey with many highlights

Various events and performances were organized as part of the visit. The shanty choir performed outdoors and could even be heard in the beer garden at Kleinhesseloher See. Christian Ude announced that he was considering a possible visit to Cuxhaven, suggesting an ongoing connection between the two choirs. Another highlight was the visit to the traditional restaurant “Alter Simpl”, where the well-known poet Joachim Ringelnatz often appeared between 1920 and 1930. Udo Brozio had set some of his texts to music, which gave the event a nostalgic touch.

The choirs experience a truly enriching musical time together. “A good hand is needed for future projects,” said those responsible. This shows how important it is to exchange ideas and support projects that benefit the people of Burkina Faso. Also Cuxverein emphasizes how important such concerts are to draw attention to local needs and provide help.

A call for support

Given the political situation in Burkina Faso, which poses great challenges for the local people, such benefit concerts are more necessary than ever. So reported Schwäbische.de from a similar event where over 550 euros were collected through donations. Such events are always under the banner of solidarity and show how many people are prepared to work for the well-being of others.

In summary, it can be said that the Cuxhaven Shanty Choir is not only committed vocally, but also with heart. Such campaigns not only bring music lovers together, but also support important social projects. We can't wait to see where the choir goes next and keep our fingers crossed for many more successful events!
