Festive farewell in pink: Frauke Brüning is retiring!

A very special farewell recently took place in the Barnstorf town hall: Frauke Brüning was ceremoniously released into retirement. In the presence of her family, colleagues and numerous political representatives, the farewell was celebrated in a festive setting, entirely in the spirit of pink. A motto that should not only express joy but also gratitude.

After an impressive career of over 40 years in public service, including her time as head of Department 2 - Order and Social Affairs - at the Barnstorf municipality, Frauke Brüning will now retire after her partial retirement ends in 2026. District newspaper reports an emotional farewell in which she also expressed her thanks to her family. Her husband Heiner and her children Jantje and Jasper were also among the guests.

An impressive career

Frauke Brüning has achieved a lot in her professional career. Starting with her training as a district inspector candidate in the Celle district from 1981 to 1984, she was appointed district inspector in 1987. She then worked in various positions, including in the districts of Vechta and Celle and in the city of Diepholz. Her tasks were always varied and included, among other things, the management of the Office for Economic Development and the management of social projects.

When she moved to the Barnstorf municipality in 2013, she finally took on the position of department head in 2015 and thus a key role in the administration. Their commitment and loyalty were recognized by joint municipal mayor Alexander Grimm, who emphasized how much their reliability was valued. She also received a lot of recognition from political representatives during her last technical committee meetings.

A look into the future

But that doesn't mean that Frauke Brüning is completely out of the world: she plans to continue to be actively involved in various clubs and the church council. According to her own statements, she would like to continue to be involved in projects such as the Huntezauber and the family fair. Her passion for social issues remains unchanged, and she is also interested in the future development of structures that strengthen the participation of people with disabilities. Securing the Future e.V. is an example of organizations it could work with.

The need for more equality and participation is still high in society. Current developments show that the proportion of women in management positions is continuously increasing, which is also visible in the activities of women like Frauke Brüning. According to a report by the Federal Ministry for Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, the current proportion of women in the federal public service has reached 45%, with the goal of achieving equal participation by the end of 2025. BMFSFJ highlights the progress and emphasizes the important role that committed women play in society.

Frauke Brüning is leaving her post and leaving a gap that will not be easy to fill. She will certainly be remembered by many – not only as a colleague, but also as a role model and reliable anchor in the administration.
