Lina Marie Quast: Strong debut at the German Pony Rider Championships!
The German Pony Eventing Championships took place from October 9th to 11th, 2025 in the picturesque setting of the Ströher Zoo. It was a very special debut for twelve-year-old Lina Marie Quast from RV Heiligenfelde. Despite the high pressure of competition, she was able to demonstrate her skills with her ponies Maruto and Hennessy and looks back proudly on her first experiences. According to a report by District newspaper she showed remarkable courage and commitment.
The tournament spanned three exciting days of competition, with participants challenged in dressage as well as cross-country eventing and jumping. On the first day of the competition, the international CCIP2*-L test, Quast started with hope, but started in ninth and tenth place after the dressage. However, the challenge increased during the demanding cross-country test, where only three of around 60 couples completed the already demanding 3,190 meter course with 29 jumps without any mistakes.
Challenges and successes
Quast only collected time penalty points with her pony Maruto and had less luck with Hennessy, who didn't make it halfway through the course. Further penalty points followed in the final competition, which ultimately led to 13th place in the international test and a respectable 11th place in the German championship. “I learned a lot from Maruto and really appreciate the diversity because the disciplines are so diverse and there is great solidarity between the participants,” Quast explained enthusiastically.
The support she received from her parents, the state coach Claus Erhorn and Ina Thalmann, was irreplaceable for Quast. National coach Rüdiger Rau also paid tribute to the organizer and the organization of the event, while Jessica Cording from RFV Ströhen emphasized the importance of the tournament and the cooperation with the zoo. "Around 60 obstacles were created for the off-road routes; planning began in March and intensive work has been carried out over the last six weeks," said Cording.
